Shelby Phillips, MA
AmeriCorps Member
Shelby is a second-year AmeriCorps member serving the Epilepsy Foundation New England, MGH’s Pediatric Epilepsy Program, and MGH’s Herscot Center for Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. Shelby received her bachelor’s degree in Biology and a letter of specialization in developmental disabilities and human services from UMass Amherst in 2020. She came to EFNE to learn how to support families affected by epilepsy. In her first year of service Shelby worked closely with a handful of individuals affected by epilepsy, created educational resources for the hospital, and facilitated EFNE social groups for youth living with epilepsy. My favorite part of my day-to-day with EFNE is working with individuals 1:1 and seeing them connect to others, whether it’s in one of the groups we offer, a walk for epilepsy, or one of the many camps that we offer. Shelby is looking forward to serving patients and families over the next year! She plans to return to school one day to become a genetic counselor. In her free time, she likes to make friendship bracelets, make pottery, explore different cities, or catch up with friends.
