My name is Jennifer Mejia Arias, and I am an AmeriCorps Community Health Worker serving the Epilepsy Foundation New England through Boston Children's Hospital in Massachusetts. I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Clinical and Health Psychology with minors in Philosophy and Criminal Justice. My interest in serving with EFNE stems from my firsthand experiences supporting individuals with epilepsy and psychiatric comorbidities on a one-to-one level. As a Spanish-speaking member of the Afro-Latino community, I have seen how gaps in healthcare services affect my community, which has motivated me to take an active role in public health. Through my work, I hope to strengthen my knowledge of health literacy, advocate for equitable healthcare, and deepen my understanding of the intersection between public health and mental health.
