A new path forward
If you or a loved one is living with epilepsy, exploring clinical trials can open the door to new treatment options and help advance research for better seizure control and quality of life. Clinical trials study emerging therapies, medications, and technologies designed to improve care for people with epilepsy. By participating, you may gain access to innovative treatments while contributing to important medical discoveries. Use the link below to learn more about current clinical trials, eligibility criteria, and how to get involved.
Who is eligible to join a clinical trial?
Eligibility for a clinical trial depends on the purpose of the study. Some trials are designed for individuals with certain seizure types or specific epilepsy syndromes. Researchers frequently seek participants who have been living with epilepsy for many years, while other studies focus on people who have recently experienced their first seizures or have not yet begun treatment. Many trials are aimed at individuals whose seizures have not responded to medication, often referred to as drug-resistant or refractory epilepsy.
In some cases, studies may also include healthy volunteers without epilepsy. Additional criteria such as age, sex, race, and other health conditions are often considered. Certain trials may focus on children, young adults, older adults, women, or men.
Because each study has its own guidelines, many different pathways determine who may qualify.
