My brother got epilepsy from meningitis he contracted at the age of three. He came home with his head heavily bandaged. He took a liking to my new coonskin cap, a popular item at the time due to the Dave Crockett movies. I doubt that I relinquished it out of the goodness of my heart, so my parents probably made it worth my while. I love this picture so much and I loved my brother who died of SUDEP at 57 almost ten years ago. by T. John Hughes
